Deciding Capacity

When it comes to deciding what battery size you need, understanding how much power and the number of appliances you intend to use is important to ensure your breakfast isn’t spoiled! So, we have created a table based on the most common appliances and their average energy rates to guide you

Mininum number of batteries required
LiFePO4 AGM
Appliance Wattage (of appliance)* Approx. energy usage* Hours run per day Avarage Daily Usage Inverter required^ 75AH - 130AH 150A - 200Ah 75AH - 130AH 150AH - 200AH Category
50L Fridge 13W 1A 24 24AH - 1 1 1 1 12V DC
LED Light Strip 13W 1A 8 8AH - 1 1 1 1
Water Pump 75W 6A 1 6AH - 1 1 1 1
Phone / Laptop 65W 5A 2 10AH - 1 1 1 1
TV 40W 3A 6 18AH 350W 1 1 1 1 240V AC
Juicer / Blender 500W 40A 0.1 4AH 1000W 1 1 1 1
Toaster 700W 55A 0.25 11AH 1000W 1 1 1 1
Microwave 1000W 80A 0.25 20A 1500W 2 1 2 2
Coffee Maker (pod) 1200W 95A 0.1 9.5AH 1500W 2 1 2 2
Hairdryer 2000W 155A 0.1 15.5AH 3000W 3 2 3 2
Kettle 2400W 185A 0.25 46AH 3000W 3 2 3 2
Example: A small setup including 50L fridge, LED lights with a phone, laptop and TV connected via a 350W inverter would use approx. 50AH per day. A 200AH battery will last for about four days uncharged.

*The figures in the table are an example only based on average estimates to provide a guide on how much power you may need. Please check the power rating (wattage) listed on your appliances to calculate exact power usage figures of your system.

Other important things to be aware of:
  • You can run many devices and appliances but not necessarily all at once, for example the ability to run 3 or more 240V AC appliance at once will require more batteries and a larger inverter.
  • Batteries will need to be recharged with suitable chargers
  • ^Inverter requirement based on pure sine wave inverters. Incorrect inverter can lead to damage to your appliance.
